Evaluation(Part 1) - Brief

The brief we were working towards was to create a 2 minute opening sequence for British audience aged between 16-24 year olds for Film 4. The film had to keep up to their standard of films and portraying Britain how it really is.  We had to use the right type of genre, themes and situations for the target audience to be met such as having current issues that are in Britain in present time. These themes would be the drug use in teenagers and how it has affected their life along with alcohol, violence, sex and poverty. As it had to be aimed towards the target audience age, the film had to appeal to them and have character which the audience can relate too which is what we did as we had a teen age boy in that age range as the main character, who gets into trouble. Many people would be able to relate to this as they could have been in the same situation.

In the opening sequence we show Jay the main character walking into a basement where he has never been before to deliver a parcel. In that parcel there were drugs but he is unaware of that until he is caught by the police officer. The title 'Framed' connotes that someone will be framed which is what the film is about. This title is shown as soon as Jay gets arrested.
The title connoted the themes of real life situations as its about being framed. It shows the betrayal between people which is what British life is like. From the meaning of someone being framed the other themes that would come to mind would be violence and drugs and they are really common in this era and teenagers get in trouble from this.

Production log 9

This week was our final week of production. In this week we had completed all the scenes as we filmed the main scenes in the basement in our holidays. We had finished most of the editing but just needed to refine it. As we were almost done we got some feedback from our teacher about the work and she gave us feedback about re-filming it but with most shots and angles as that was what was lacking in our work so far.

The issue we had was that we had to re-film the shots again as we needed a better variety of shots. Another issue was the actors. The actors we needed weren't available so we used one of our partners to play the police officer. we thought we would have two officers in the scene to build the tension and make it seem like a proper scene but we lacked in actors.

We did have a problem with the SD card being corrupted resulting in us being able to access the footage. To overcome this issue, the shots we had, had to be re-filmed again. This shot we re-filmed was a majority of the opening sequence( 2 minutes). These scenes we re-filmed and put onto the Mac and had been edited.

On the day of the deadline, we completed the editing of the opening sequences and the music was found online. A problem we had was that we forgot about the Mac being booked with another group so they had break and lunch booked for their work but we had the lesson to do it on Thursday  After school the graphics were put on to the footage but there was a problem with it. This was that the graphic duration times could not be changed due to setting problems. but this issue was over come and the duration was changed. The music was added in after the graphics were completed.

On Fridays lesson, We watched other students opening sequence videos and gave them feedback of what their strengths were and what improvements they could have made etc. There wasn't enough time for our work to be shown so it will be shown next week.
